Unusual Feature Ground: The arts, in general, are looked upon favorably as the settings for features. Odd or unusual feature ground occupations will be accepted almost automatically as feature picture subjects. In fact, anything odd or unusual feature ground in any way is almost certain to click with the editor, provided of course that you cover it with a set of good pictures which point up strongly the odd or unusual feature ground aspects of your subject. Anything dramatic, too, is sure to be accepted if your pictures underline the drama.
An unusual feature ground feature of ground snakes is the appearance of several distinct color patterns among members of a single species. Striped, crossbanded, and unmarked ground snakes may be found together. The plain-colored individuals are grayish or reddish brown. Other individuals have a red or orange longitudinal or vertebral stripe, while others have black or orange cross bands that vary in size and number, and still others have only a single color band just behind the head.
Next to pretty girls, probably the most welcome subjects for feature pictures are animals. Any unusual feature ground pet, or ordinary pet which has been especially trained, is a good bet for a salable feature series. Activities of children are right up there with pretty girls and animals, too, as popular feature subjects. Any precocious child who shows ability in any of the arts can be worked up into a story. Show the child actually doing the thing which sets him or her apart from other children. |
