University Town: The older university town buildings include the library complex based on the 14th century church of a former Dominican friary, and the classical "Aula" of 1837, used on ceremonial occasions. The old town is surrounded by a tree-shaded promenade marking the medieval Wall of 1362. A university town science complex lies outside the Wall to the south, the university town hospitals and a new campus to the north. Pleasant suburbs ("the professorial quarter") climb the wooded slopes fringing the rift valley to the east.
Voters must be United States citizens, at least . years of age, and residents of the state for le year and of the town for six months, and ey must also be registered in the town. No one ay vote on town financial matters unless he vns real estate in the town to the value of $134 has paid a property tax of at least $134 within e preceding year.
Rhode Island sends two senators and two rep-sentatives to Congress.
Higher education is offered at the university town of Chile (in Santiago and Valparaiso), the State Technical university town (Santiago), the Catholic university town of Chile (Santiago), the Catholic university town of Valparaiso, the university town of Con-cepcion, Southern university town (Valdivia), Federico Santa Maria Technical university town (Valparaiso), and the university town of the North (Antofagasta). The first two are state universities; all the others are private. |
