The Home Offices: Sponsored by the Pasadena chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, the tour will take you inside five homes, all within a 9-mile radius, where kitchens are at the heart of the home.
Other parts of the houses - living rooms, entryways, family rooms and home offices - will be open for viewing as well, but the kitchens are definitely the stars of this tour.
I am by no means depending solely on my own research, or my multitude of pocket notebooks, but have sought ex cathedra aid from the of- t ficial government tourist offices of the ETC in every capital city. I drew t up a detailed questionnaire covering all the Special Interests and Hobbies * that seem important and sent a copy of it to each of the twenty-one central offices and even to some provincial offices. In every case I received gen- j erous and specific replies. This multiple collaboration has much enriched f the scope of this book's Special Interests feature.
Several large studios located in North Carolina produce many furniture and home furnishing photographs because of the heavy concentration of furniture factories and fabric mills in the general area. Because the home offices of the automobile manufacturers are located in Detroit, most of the photographs for the ads and brochures used by that industry are produced there. Most major cities usually have several photographers that do illustration, and there are photographers in smaller towns servicing local industries with high quality illustrations. |
