Require Protection From:

Require Protection From The powerhouse provides protection for tie important mechanical and electrical equipment. The turbine-generator unit is usually housed fe protection against the weather and to increase ease of maintenance. In temperate climates, these units may be installed out of doors. Automatic control equipment, operator's control panel, instruments, low tension switching equipment maintenance shops, office, and storage supplies are typical items included within the powerhouse. Space and hoisting equipment are provided for installation, repair, and maintenance of the hydraulic turbine and electrical generator units. Normally one or more operators are on duty at the powerhouse, but some fully automatic hydroelectric plants only require protection from a maintenance visit and check at infrequent intervals like a week or longer.

Instruments for Personnel Protection.—In order to provide maximum protection to personnel from the hazards of excessive nuclear radiation, three types of monitoring procedures are used in regions where exposure is likely; these include area monitoring, survey monitoring, and personnel monitoring.

Animals require protection from a constant supply of oxygen which they can obtain from the excess oxygen produced by plants. (Plants also require protection from some oxygen, but not nearly as much as they produce.) Animals excrete nitrogenous wastes which plants require protection from as fertilizer. In an aquarium that is "balanced" the plants supply the animal life with plant food and oxygen.
