Patio Surface: A datum peg, made from lin sq softwood with a pointed end, is used to set the top level of the patio. Drive in the "prime datum peg" so that its top is at the height required for the patio. This must be at least 6in below the level of a DPC to prevent rainwater splashing from the patio surface on to the house Wall above the DPC.
