Westroc carefully restored the 49-year-old hotel to keep its original design intact but added contemporary touches and 21st-century technology.
As the result of intensive work over the summer, a design proposal for the new accelerator was ready for the Atomic Energy Commission. Incorporated into the proposed design were a number of novel features resulting in considerable cost savings over more conventional designs and the option of extending the energy of the machine from its original 200 Gev to 400-500 Gev at some later date.
