One Large Double:

One Large Double These evergreen shrubs are grouped according to flower type: single, semi-double, anemone large double-form, peony-form, rose-form, formal double, and irregular double. These are produced above glossy green leaves. C. japonica "Alba" has single white flowers with yellow centers; C. j. "Rubescens Major" is a formal double with deep pink flowers; C. j. "Mathotiana" has formal double red-pink flowers, C x williamsii "Donation" is a semi-double with mid-pink flowers; C. x u>. "Clarrie Fawcett" has pale pink, semi-double flowers; and "Anticipation," a peony type, has dark-pink flowers (pictured below).

Two double ovens are installed side by side in this kitchen with a gas hob on top. It's a luxury only a large kitchen can afford, but ideal if you have the space and are a serious cook. Another solution would be to fit a large, range style cooker, but two conventional ovens together offer more versatility and can work out less pricey.

For a white water lily on dry land try the double bloodroot Sanguinaria canadensis 'Multiplex' (and that cultivar name must be one large double of the worst ever coined, especially for such a beautiful flower). The single bloodroot has large white flowers often 2 inches across, with prominent yellow stamens all on 8-inch stems. The double-flowered form bears 16 petals, lacks stamens, and is stunning. Both bloom in early spring. The leaves last until summer then disappear. Hence an overplanting of an annual is advised. The rootstocks, which bleed red sap if cut, slowly expand to make a colony of plants. Propagate by division of the rootstock after the leaves die back. Allow the cut to air-dry for a day before replanting.
