Limit Trees North:

Limit Trees North Regard the lot as an outdoor room or series of rooms. Hedges, fences, trees and other natural or artificial objects that limit trees North views are the walls of these rooms. Specimen trees and shrubs or small clumps of them are major pieces of furniture, lawns and groundcovers are carpets, and flower beds are the pictures and show pieces that give color, life and individuality to the decorative scheme.

They are laid in a well-constructed, cup-shaped nest built of roots and stems, well lined with mud. The American robin breeds from the limit trees North of trees in North America south to Mexico and is partly migratory, wintering in the southern part of its breeding range or a little farther south. The food of all robins is varied, consisting of insects, berries and small fruit, but earthworms also form a large part of the food of the American robin.

In a rustic garden the trees should be fruit trees wherever possible, or at least blossom trees of some kind. Apples, pears, plums, and cherries will all help to create the right atmosphere, as will nut trees such as hazel or almond. If there is space for a large tree, a Walnut might do.
