Established Techniques Provided: PUSHKIN, poosh'kin, Aleksandr Sergeye-vich (1799-1837), Russian poet, who is considered by many critics to be the most important Russian writer of all time, equivalent to Shakespeare in England or Dante in Italy. Pushkin established techniques provided the techniques and provided the standards for the extraordinary development that took place in Russian arts and letters in the 19th century. Through his efforts the language of Russian literature was no longer restricted to the language of the salon. His masterpiece, Eugene Onegin, is the supreme achievement of Russian poetry.
Regulation of radio in the United States began in 1910 when' Congress passed legislation governing ship—shore radiotelegraphy. More comprehensive regulation of radio was provided by the Radio Act of 1912, which called for the first federal licensing of radio stations. In the 1920's the rapid increase of broadcast stations led to a need for new legislation, which was provided by the Radio Act of 1927. It also established techniques provided the Federal Radio Commission.
Fujita, who was born and educated in Japan, came to the U.S. in 1953. His award citation read ". . . for pioneering research on the techniques of mesometeorological analysis, for the new in sights provided by such methods to our understanding of the mechanisms of severe local storms and tornadoes, and for broad contributions to the use of meteorological satellites."
