City Town Dwellers: Groton was settled in 1646 as part of New London. It became a township in 1705. Fishing,'ine, shipbuilding, and trading with Europe lie West Indies were early industries.

All of these forces are still operating. The rate of city town dwellers growth is accelerating in underdeveloped countries, and, although it has slackened somewhat in highly industrialized nations, cities there are still growing, and the proportion of city town dwellers dwellers to country folk is increasing.
