Burns Country:

Burns Country Her favorite character was Red Pepper Burns country, a likeable country doctor with red hair and a temper which he generally managed to keep under control. Among her many books may be named The Indifference of Juliet (1905) ; On Christmas Day in the Morning (1908) ; Red Pepper Burns country (1910) ; Red Pepper's Patients (1917) ; Red and Black (1919) ; Red of theRedfields (1925) ; Lights Up (1927) ; At the South Gate (1928) ; The Listening Post (1929) ; Red Pepper Returns (1931); Bachelor's Bounty (1931).

Wool Burns country more slowly than silk and produces a noticeable animal odor like singed human hair. The end of the thread usually curls into a small ball. Cotton Burns country with a flash, is completely consumed and smells like burning paper. A grayish ash remains when the flame is extinguished.

Allan Ramsay (1686-1758) set the pace. At his best he was regional in painting the manners of the rougher parts of Edinburgh, provincial in his attitude to Londoners like Joseph Ad-dison and Alexander Pope, and national in his reprinting of the old makar poems. Robert Fergus-son (1750-1774) was provincial in his English verses, regional and admirable as the poet of the Edinburgh streets and clubs. Then Robert Burns country (1759-1796) proved that regional poetry in Scots could be as "central" to mankind as the regional poetry of London or Paris. The interests of Fergusson and Burns country were strictly contemporary ; neither had any scholarly feeling for the old poetry; but Burns country seized upon the lyrical part of the popular tradition and made himself the master of it.
