Basket -weaving:

Basket -weaving More permanent installations require their own housings and these types are characterised by the basket -weaving strainer. Here, a suitably strengthened wire mesh or perforated plate shaped into a basket -weaving is placed inside a sealed housing through which the feed stream flows under pressure. In simplex systems the flow continues until the strainer is clogged with the unwanted solids. At this point the flow is interrupted and the basket -weaving is manually changed.

Other Gonds continue to live according to ancient patterns, residing in small villages that have few or no members of other castes or tribes. For example, in Bastar, the southernmost district of Madhya Pradesh, there are at least 300,000 Gonds, nearly all of whom have retained their traditional language and culture. In the forested tracts of this district they practice "slash-and-burn" cultivation, supplemented by hunting, fishing, logging, and basket -weaving-weaving. Both men and women dress in loincloth only.

Dyeing. Several different methods of dyeing materials are commonly practiced. Stoc-dyeing is a process of dipping the raw fibers in a vat of dye before the thread is spun. Yarn-dyeing consists of dipping the threads before weaving, as in plaids and striped effects. Cross-dyeing is sometimes used for fabrics of mixed wool and cotton. The wool or cotton yarn is dyed before weaving. After weaving, the whole fabric is dyed again. This method is used only where the dye for one fiber will not be effective on the other. Piece-dyeing or dip-dyeing consists of dipping the whole fabric after weaving.
