Artificial Flower:

Artificial Flower There need be no question in your mind about the market for good flower photography. One of the big slide film dis¬tributors has found flower fanciers the most consistent buy ers of all among slide collectors, even though the pictures offered are strictly of specimen flowers. These cannot possibly have the same appeal as pictures of flowers grown by the buyer in his own soil. The only flower fancier who is not an eager prospect for pictures of his blooms is one who has never seen a color slide transparency of a beautiful flower projected. A close-up of a lovely flower on a screen is a sight to make anyone, flower lover or not, gasp at its beauty.

Regard the lot as an outdoor room or series of rooms. Hedges, fences, trees and other natural or artificial flower objects that limit views are the walls of these rooms. Speci¬men trees and shrubs or small clumps of them are major pieces of furniture, lawns and groundcovers are carpets, and flower beds are the pictures and show pieces that give color, life and individuality to the decorative scheme.

See Also Bulb- Flower Part:

The night of June 3 saw a final spring frost, one of the latest in years. On the next day I seeded some tender annuals in amongst the bulbs, moved out other plants from the greenhouse and when the last of the bulb leaves died back, moved in a host of geraniums. The bulb bed had lived up to advance notices giving color and a light heart to the gardeners far longer than most other flower beds.

Floiver festivals are frequent in the flower belt between Haarlem and Leiden. When the tulips are at their height in April, every Sunday is Tulip Sunday. A National Flower Show (mid-March to mid-May) is held on the Keukenhof Estate at Lisse. Later in the season (not the bulb- flower partflower season), two magnificent festivals occur. The Hague stages a bril¬liant Flower Festival (early in August), with election of the Flows Queen (parade) and with special prizes such as that for the best bicycle Decoration (open to children); and an Aalsmeer-to-Amsterdam Flower Parade (September) culminates in the Olympic Stadium, for the award of prizes. The floats are always marvelous.

On The Other Hand See Plants Flower For Three:

Propagation and growing: sow seed in late spring, in well-drained, rich soil. If seed is not required, remove the flower stems as they appear. Self-sown seedlings will grow freely if the plants flower for three are allowed to flower; if not, propagate them by dividing the parent plants flower for three approximately every three years or so. The seeds are ready to harvest when they have turned a gray-green color and have hardened. Cut off the whole flower head and dry slowly indoors.

Paper moons (Scabiosa stellata 'Drumstick') are a new garden flower cultivar. When the plants flower for three are in bloom they look like a rather washed-out scabiosa (the pin-cushion flower), in an unattractive shade of blue. But they soon ripen into bronze-colored, round seed heads that look more like coral fossils than plants flower for three. Stems reach 40 inches in length. Space the plants flower for three 8 inches apart. They are hardy annuals.
