Absorbed Water Evaporates: Discoloration of masonry is often due to absorbed water which evaporates later, carrying with it soluble salts which remain on the surface. This is called efflorescence; and the silicones greatly reduce this by preventing the absorption of the water. Spalling, the microscopic chipping off of surface particles, is also reduced. Such chipping of particles can be due to repeated cycle freezing and thawing of absorbed water evaporates water or t( formation of salt crystals in efflorescence, forces produced during the slow but irresis growth of salt crystals is of the order of 10C Eounds per square inch, a force which is assu y many to be the main cause of masonry dis gration.
After being put in its final place on the terrace, the tub was filli to within 4 inches of the top with water from the hose, and was left sit for a day. The next morning I placed the water lily on the ti bottom. The spike rush and the papyrus were then placed on brie so the water level was about 5 inches above their dirt when the ti was full. I topped off the water.
The tub sat on the terrace where it received sun most of the d; You have to add water to a tub garden every week or so to repla any that evaporates.
There is more water in the air than you might think. It evaporates from the oceans, lakes, and rivers, and can exist in the air in any of three physical states—vapor, liquid, or solid. |
